"People Who Died" - the Jim Carroll Band

Jim Carroll was the author of "The Basketball Diaries", for which I believe he won a Pulitzer prize. In the 80's, he hung out with Lou Reed and decided to get into music for awhile. He made some good music, but the piece de resistance was this song - an upbeat but brutal TRUE song about all of Jim's friends who died and the manner in which they died.

I'll have to check that one out. I saw the basketball diaries--good flick. FYI do not download Robert Downey Jr's debut "A Man like me" IT SUCKS A**!! He said his inspiration was envisioning a guy living in podunk land and running off with his girlfriends since her parent don't approve. All that AND his singing sound like a hoarse Joe Cocker--if there could be anyone more hoarse than he.

That's too bad - his cover of Joni Mitchell's song "River" from the Ally McBeal Christmas album (don't ask) is actually pretty good.
